2018: All Spartan Series Explained

2018 Spartan Series

A Series is nothing more than a group of Spartan events where athletes accumulate scores (calculated using the Spartan Points System) and are ranked together in a leaderboard. All Spartan Series are divided into the 3 racing categories, Elite, Age Group, and Open, and only include events that take place in the same calendar year (from Jan 1 to Dec 31).

For the majority of the 2018 Spartan Series, athletes can only accumulate their top-5 scores. That means an athlete running in a series that includes more than 5 races may have his/her lowest score dropped if scoring better on a 6th race or more.

Below is a breakdown of our 2018 Spartan Series, it's list of included events and any unique rules that apply.

2018 Spartan World Series

All Spartan events taking place on the planet during the 2018 calendar year are included in the Spartan World Series. Only the top-5 scores are accumulated.

  • Elite: Athletes are awarded scores based on the "Fixed 300" Spartan points system. There is no course distance weighting factor adjustment.
  • Age Group: Athletes are awarded scores based on the "Standard 300" Spartan points system for Age Group with course distance weighting factor adjustment.
